Austin Oliver - Frank and Mungo's Worm Son
Frank and Mungo’s Worm Son is my attempt at blending gross-out humor with alternative absurdist comedy. Worm Son follows two charmingly, but not hopelessly, stupid adult roommates who, upon finding a worm in the mud, decide to take on all the duties of parenthood.I’m pulling from my longtime influences of Ren and Stimpy and Spongebob Squarepants, among others, while still letting myself make the final comedic and design choices. I see this film as a culmination of my fondness for writing jokes, character animation, sound design, and music production. Moving forward I want to continue with other films of these two idiots, perhaps extending the run time to fully explore their comedic potential. This film was created in various programs in the Adobe suite, using Animate for the character animation and Photoshop for the backgrounds and illustrated close-ups.
